Abbott — international company, which seeks to improve people's lives through development of products and technologies in healthcare sector. A wide range of advanced solutions in field of diagnostics, medical devices, infant and clinical nutrition, as well as recognized on the market drugs allows Abbott to serve people in more than 150 countries. Abbott employs more than 73,000 people worldwide, of which about 600 — in CIS. In CIS Abbott is presented by diagnostic and drugs units, company's offices are located in Kiev, Almaty, Minsk, Tashkent, Baku and Tbilisi. In 2013 Abbott was launching a talent management program aiming at identifying, assessing and developing company’s high potentials in Ukraine and CIS region (Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan, Belarus, Armenia, Azerbaijan, Moldova, Turkmenistan) and invited Uliana Morokhovskaya, SWP Partner, to provide talent management support.
SWP service provided
In order to deliver successfully the first year pilot project following services were provided:
º Assessment & Development Centers set up: development of assessment matrix, observation forms, timings, assessment schedule, project documents, assessment center report and individual development plan template, communication strategy
º Trainings for in-house assessors
º Arranged & delivered 11 Assessment Centers in Ukraine, Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan and Georgia for 43 participants.
º Developed and provided Assessment Center reports with focus on Development recommendations
º Conducted individual feedback sessions with participants and provided group reports to management
º Provided support for participants in preparing their individual development plans
º Conducted development review sessions with participant with certain regularity in order to monitor and evaluate progress in their development.
The pilot project was successful and company made decision to continue it on a regular basis.
During the second year of the project we have also developed customized pharmaceutical cases for Assessment & Development Centers (Analysis & Presentation case, Managerial role play, Commercial role play) in order increase efficiency of assessment program and evaluated a new group of 21 high potentials in Ukraine and CIS region.
Outcomes
º 64 High Potentials participated in Assessment & Development Centers, received assessment reports, individual feedbacks and developed their individual development plans. Their progress in accomplishing development plans is reviewed on a regular basis.
º Each second participant of first year project received promotion and successfully passed probation period. This also resulted in recruitment budget economy for managerial positions.
º Client received customized assessment cases for delivery of Assessment & Development Centers, which also can be used also in general recruitment process. Customized cases proved to be more effective in identifying participants’ strengths & development areas in line with potential career paths (Product Manager/Regional Manager/KAM/Training Manager)
º Client has pool of in-house trained and experienced assessors
º Project positively influenced on increasing ‘evaluation & development culture’ among managers

‘We’ve started our cooperation with Uliana Morokhovskaya on a High Potentials project the purpose of which was to assess and develop our talents. During our cooperation the project has changed status from ‘pilot’ to regular HiPo development process and we continue our cooperation. Uliana provided full-scope support in Assessment & Development Centers organization and delivery, provided training for managers who participated in assessments as assessors, prepared Assessment reports and provided feedback sessions to participants, supported development and further update of individual development plans.
